Immortality in the eyes of others

One thing every living thing on this planet earth has in commen whether they are rich, poor, animel, planet, or anything that lives even this planet and our sun will some day die. Even though it is a scary thing to think about we some how cope with the tought with it though many way an example is religen beliving that by doing good in your live that you will get to live on forever in heaven or hell. These kinds of thinking has been able to ease the thoght of death from our minds. I too have thought about what happens to use after death and i do fear what will happen to us after we die. I wounder is there a heaven and hell or is there nothing when we die. I in a sence begain to relise my mortality over two years ago when someone in my family died.


Last summer after finishing grade 10 i herd that my grandmother was very sick with cancer in Portugal. After hearing the bad news from my cousin's my family had gone to Portugal to see her before her death. When we got there she had passed away and after her funeral even though she had died as a mortal she didn't die in my memories of her. Even though people do die in this world physicly they don't die there memories can be keep alive in many form from books, pictures. journals, poems, story's, art.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh the main character begain to fear death after his best friend Enkidu was killed by the godes as punishment for killing the bull of heaven. After Enkidu had died Gilgamesh begain a long jurney for immortality cause he feared that he would one day die like Enkidu. Before Enkidu had died Gilgamesh belived that nothing could kill him he was very ingnorent person at the time. Even though he went through a large journey to become a immortatal and even though he failed in the end he was able to cope with the thought of death beliving even though one day he would die but that humanity would be imortal. That has been truth statment even now humaity is alive and so is Gilgamesh is also alive not in a form of a human but as a book that we all read even now. Even though that one day we all might die in some way we can become imortal in the eyes of others through memories, books, pictures, painting, poems and other things.

View on heroism

What are the qualities that makes someone a hero and what does that person need to do for people to see him or her as a her are always asked by people. For a long time even in ancient times hero's were viewed as people as who would in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness they would show a great amount of courage and the will of self-sacrifice for the greater good. There have been many book written about heroism all from Beowulf, The Odyssey and other ancient and modern books have as the hero a male person even though as time went by people have changed there view on what a hero is for a long time a her has been view as a male person. As time went by and even now as times are changing people are now viewing that both male and female can become hero's even though for many years men have been view as hero's.

People in old times view women becoming hero's as a joke something that could never happen that only a man could be one. You don't always hear in literature a woman as hero's. I believe that it doesn't matter if the hero is a male or a female as long as they are willing to do whatever is nesasary for the greater good. Hero's even in this day and age can be found anywhere even if they aren't super humans as long as they do whatever to help there fellow man then they can be considered a hero, a hero can be from anyone from a police officer, fire fighter to someone in the army those are true hero's.
